Job Title: 3rd Line IT Support Engineer

Salary Range: £30–38k dependent upon experience

Holiday: 23 days + bank holidays, rising to 25 after 2 years

Comms UK is a Telecoms and IT provider for businesses. We primarily operate in the Dorset and Hampshire areas and have circa 700 active customers

We install and support solutions to businesses of all types and size with a suite of products and services to provide a complete IT & telecoms package

Role:

We have an opportunity for a highly experienced 3rd Line IT Engineer to take up a varied and balanced role to provide remote and some on-site technical support, contributing to designing solutions and planning/managing installation projects.

The candidate must be a highly motivated engineer, with a ‘can do’ attitude and a thorough, logical approach to planned projects and reactive support services. They must be sufficiently skilled in our core product and service areas to ensure fault calls are responded to and rectified in an efficient and timely manner, within given SLA’s as required and proud to report satisfactory customer communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 3rd line escalation support to service desk and internal IT requests
  • Assist with solution design and recommendations
  • Promote knowledge progression with the helpdesk / field team
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers through the support you deliver
  • Make recommendations for continuous service improvement through adoption of new technologies and business understanding
  • Maintain concise and clear documentation via ticketing system and knowledge base

Skills:

  • Experience providing Server and Desktop Infrastructure support for a variety of Microsoft technologies; Installation Project Management
  • Experience of implementing and maintaining Microsoft Cloud services including virtual environments, device management, storage, and backup solutions
  • Microsoft Server Support 2008 R2 and above
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Professional and above
  • Group Policy and Active Directory Administration, new user setups (User accounts, O365 Mailboxes), Sharepoint development and Azure files.
  • Remote Backup and firewall procedures
  • Network Infrastructure covering ASDL, FTTC, FTTP, LANs & VLANs, DNS/DHCP, TCP/IP, Ethernet, wireless router
  • Diagnosing network infrastructure faults using software tools
  • Knowledge of Hyper-V and VMWare (ESXI) virtualisation including disaster recovery
  • Designing and administering managed Wi-Fi solutions
  • Veeam Back up
  • Ability to work with Cloud based services/Office 365
  • Skilled in planning, implementing, and migrating infrastructure and recommending improvements

 

Preferred Qualification’s

  • Microsoft certified on prem / cloud or equivalent
  • Hyper V / VMware
  • CCNA or equivalent
  • FortiGate / Cisco Firewalling or equivalent
  • ITIL or equivalent

 

Person Specification:

  • Experience providing excellent customer service whilst working under pressure to SLA’s
  • Experience providing field support and installation services across multiple sites
  • An understanding of a service call life cycle
  • The ability to work accurately under pressure, to deadlines
  • Excellent organisational, multitasking and planning skills
  • Preferred previous B2B experience/ Managed Service Provider background
  • A full and valid UK driving license
 
 

Job Title: Hybrid IT and Telecoms Engineer

Salary Range: £26–34k + Car Allowance dependent on experience.

Role:

We have an opportunity for an experienced IT / Telecoms Hybrid Field Engineer to join our excellent engineering team, to majorly plan and deliver onsite installations, undertake onsite fault support and where demand requires assist on the helpdesk.

The candidate must be a highly motivated engineer, with a ‘can do’ attitude and a thorough, logical and proactive approach to planning and preparing projects and delivering quality installations. They must be sufficiently skilled in our core product and service areas to bring varied solutions to fruition, on time and on budget and to customers satisfaction

Responsibilities Include

Improving the quality and efficiency of services and support delivery by:

  • Installation of IT and Telecoms solutions
  • Onboarding of managed support services
  • Remote and On-Site support of customers
  • Planning and managing installation projects
  • Assisting sales and customers with solution design and recommendations
  • Working with CRM system to document and update project and service tickets
  • Driving sales opportunities from technical operations

   

Required Education, Skills and Qualification

  • High end knowledge of configuring routers, switches, and firewalls
  • High end knowledge of installing IT hardware and services
  • High end knowledge of virtual environments including disaster recovery
  • High end knowledge of Azure and virtualised cloud services environment
  • High end experience of Wi-Fi installation and configuration (preferred Ruckus & Ubiquiti/Unifi)
  • High end experience of designing and implementing cloud telephony
  • Knowledge of SIP and Broadband
  • Knowledge of installing LAN infrastructure including testing, terminating, and designing.
  • Experience of working with CRM/ticketing system
  • Full UK Driving License
